Highway 1 was closed intermittently overnight because of the NWT Wildfires near Hay River and winds of up to 50 kilometres per hour are expected in the next day.

With the NWT’s chief electoral officer recommending that the Oct. 3 territorial election be pushed back until November, legislators are planning to vote on next steps.

Students currently under evacuation order from the NWT Wildfires will not be learning remotely in September.
