When the going gets tough, the tough get creative! With many children in town forced to isolatefor the last few weeks, Inuvik Drum made the call out to youth to flex their creative muscles and make some artwork. Many were happy to oblige and we’re happy to show their work.

Schools may have been closed over the last month as the Beaufort Delta locked down in the face of Covid-19, but staff were keeping busy the entire time helping out with relief efforts during the lockdown.

As the newly identified Omicron variant of Covid-19 reaches Canada’s shores, the GNWT is launching a new program encouraging individuals to establish their own levels of safety guidelines.

All the Covid-19 cases in the NWT are now isolated in the hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, as of Nov. 30.

Warmer weather at the onset of winter this year has delayed the construction of the Mackenzie River ice crossing.

Inuvik has been declared Covid-19 free, and Tuktoyaktuk is down to 21 active cases of the virus.

Two fires that destroyed the Inuvik Warming Centre are not suspicious in nature, and one firefighter was medevaced to Stanton hospital in Yellowknife after slipping on the ice during the Nov. 27 blaze.

There is now a single case of Covid-19 in Inuvik and 28 active cases in Tuktoyaktuk.
