Like a lot of people, in the spring, I eagerly await the snows demise and the arrival of the re-emerging ground. Some years, I feel the urge to run out and kiss the ground when it first appears. Also, it is interesting seeing what hidden natural treasures may emerge.

There has certainly been a lot happening lately especially with visitors to our fair town. Spring floods in Hay River sent evacuees scurrying here. Then, a Royal tour and the United States Government talking about UFOs visiting the planet. Or, as they are calling them now, Unidentified Flying Phenomena — UFPs for short. Since an object could be a phenomenon, not sure what the name change signifies because, either way, it is unidentified and flying.

You know how so many people act as though Covid-19 has disappeared? Well, it might not be such a good idea. Yellowknife’s sewage was recently found to contain Covid-19 at alarming rates.

May marks the start of pride events in many cities around the country. We, at the union, proudly honour and celebrate LGBTQ2+ communities in the North, and across this land, Canada. This summer will be filled with Pride, in-person and virtual, events.
