Energy is clearly one of the top issues facing the NWT. It’s too expensive, too elusive and too dirty.

This past Sunday night, only a handful of people turned out to an election forum at Weledeh school. Yet we are in the middle of a campaign that will affect all of us for the next four years.

This isn’t a story about whether Buffy Sainte-Marie — musical icon, activist, community member and beloved Auntie — is biologically Indigenous. Rather, it’s more important to understand the deep impact a CBC report casting doubts on the singer’s ancestry is having across Indigenous lands — and how the fallout from the report shows what reconciliation is not.

So what will this election be all about?

Do you believe in ghosts or spirits of the departed? Ones who can return to visit places that meant a lot to them when they were alive? Surely, you will agree, that the Gold Range Hotel is probably haunted, especially around Halloween.

Today, I thought I’d talk about how we age, because people live much longer than in the past. Yet, many of us don’t really understand the changes to our bodies as we get older.

Is a relationship worth salvaging when you know, deep down, you’re past the point of repair? How can you tell if you’re ready to move on or that one foot you have in the door is there for a reason?
