Housing NWT is looking for a non-profit or Indigenous government to take over operation of Inuvik’s two homeless shelters, less than a year after seizing control of them.

Ice crossings over both the Peel and Mackenzie Rivers are now on 72 hours notice, but could close at any point if conditions become more hazardous.

While I was covering an assignment last week, I decided to enjoy the not -30 C weather and walk to my destination. When I got there, I noticed there were two unhitched semi-trucks parked in between the professional building and the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation building. Neither vehicle had a driver in them, both bore Yukon plates, and both were running unattended.

Inuvik’s Team Wainman is fundraising for their next season of curling bonspiels and over 30 artists are donating their work to help them along the way.

Zoning bylaw gives Tsiigehtchic streets names

Teetł’it Zheh, otherwise known as Fort McPherson, was the nexus of focus for the Gwich’in Tribal Council this week for Gwich’in Day April 22. This was an extra-special celebration, as it marked 30 years of the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement. The day was filled with song, dance, food and festivities.
