Artists across the North can feel a bit of relief this coming year as Inuvik’s largest festival is still standing, but will still need a lot of volunteer support to go forward.

The rollercoaster of emotions that in many ways defines the high school experience is making a stop on the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) stage next week.

David A. Robertson’s novel The Portal Keeper, a remix of The Chronicles of Narnia set in Winnipeg, is an exciting new instalment that adds its distinct touch on the world that Robertson has been building on for the past four years.

“Close your eyes and picture the most decrepit shed you can imagine,” ‘Big Baby’ Brian Weadick enthusiastically encouraged. “What would liven it up? Punk rock. Think about punk rock rocking out the speakers in that decrepit shed. That is what we are doing.”

The gaming community in Yellowknife was buzzing with excitement as Ptarmicon hosted its annual FreezeCon event on Saturday.
