A Yellowknife woman was arrested today after allegedly robbing the same convenience store on Range Lake Road twice this year, officials said.

Cynthia Lafferty, 20, is accused of robbing Willy’s Convenience Store on Jan. 4, and again on April 20, according to a statement from Yellowknife RCMP.

She was arrested early this morning following a tip from the public, according to the statement. A warrant for her arrest was issued on April 23.

“We want to thank the public for helping our investigators in locating Ms. Lafferty,” stated Cpl. Julien Chalifour of the RCMP in the news release.

She is charged with two counts of robbery and one count of theft under $5,000.

Following the April 20 armed robbery, RCMP linked Lafferty to another theft at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Old Airport Road, which occurred just three days before, on April 17.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Lafferty was due to appear via telephone in a Yellowknife court today.
