The news release states that Dr. Courtney Howard, a "globally recognized climate and health expert" will be holding a news conference via zoom Thursday at noon.

The announcement came from William Gagnon, who unsuccessfully sought the nomination as the Green Party candidate for the Northwest Territories in last fall's federal election.

When contacted, Gagnon said more will be said at the press conference.

Howard is a member of the Ecology North board of directors and has attended climate rallies in Yellowknife.

Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May announced she was stepping down from her position shortly after the election.

The party won three seats in the 2019 federal election.

The party is to decide on a new leader in the fall.
