Yellowknife Chamber receives standard of excellence recognition from national body

Members of the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce are celebrating this week after the organization received accreditation by the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada, a news release stated Oct. 6.
"Accreditation is a stamp of approval that our organization is well governed and well run,” says Tim Syer, president of the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber, which represents 383 businesses, was acknowledged by the national body for being "run in a strategic and professional way" and has reached "the standard in chamber excellence," states the release.
The accreditation will be held by the chamber of over three years – from 2020 to 2023. It demonstrates to the public that the chamber has a strategic focus on core activities, has uniform practices and policies that are consistent with other chambers in the network. It also recognizes the chamber's governance procedures, distinct brand identity and policy and advocacy work for business.
Tim Syer, Yk chamber president, said the recognition is a reflection of the group's efforts on behalf of members.
“Achieving accreditation has been an active seven-year process, with different components reflected in our strategic plans over that time,” said Syer. “We work hard to provide value to our membership, to demonstrate strong ethics, good governance and sound financial management. Accreditation is a stamp of approval that our organization is well governed and well run.”
