Legacy Liquor Store in Vancouver is running a contest in partnership with Budweiser to give residents of the Lower Mainland a chance to win the "ultimate winter getaway."

That getaway includes flights for two from Vancouver International Airport, a three-night stay in Yellowknife, an aurora tour with a dogsledding option and access to the Snowking's Winter Festival and the Snow Castle.

"We work quite closely with Labatt and we do quarterly contests," said Elise Yurkowski, marketing and events manager at Legacy Liquor Store. "We try to make them as elaborate as possible, as well as tying into our market and our clientele, which is sort of a lot of adventure-seekers, people sort of looking to get out and do different things – so we picked Yellowknife."

Yurkowski has been to Yellowknife many times and said she enjoyed her time in the North.

“I love all the people," she said. "I love the experience and I think it’s somewhere that everyone should be able to explore in their life.”

The contest is not affiliated with or in partnership with the Snowking's Winter Festival. But Yurkowski has attended the festival in the past and thought it would make for a great prize.

"I think it’s really cool, it’s so different," she said. “We’re just looking to encourage travel there, explore our own country and find somewhere new."

The contest, which closed on March 1, had more than 300 online entries as of Feb. 22, said Yurkowski.
