Undisclosed ‘serious incident’ unfolding in Behchoko, say RCMP

An “unfolding serious incident” in Behchoko has prompted Mounties in the community to call in additional NWT RCMP officers, but police are offering scarce details as to what happened.

RCMP say there is no “indication of a public safety concern at this time,” after additional officers were deployed to the community around 1 p.m. today.

“We do not have confirmed details of the incident,” states a news release from RCMP issued Monday afternoon.

“Supporting units are in transit to Behchoko to assess the situation,” state RCMP.

Updates will be provided “as information becomes available,” states the news release.
