Two vehicle accident closes traffic in downtown Yk

ACCIDENT 009

A two vehicle accident at the intersection of Franklin Ave. and 48 St. temporarily shut down traffic on a downtown block Thursday night.

Emergency response crews attended the scene around 8:20 p.m., where three occupants, appearing to be unharmed, walked away from their damaged SUV, which had collided with another car.  Both of the SUV's airbags were deployed.

Police cordoned off the stretch of road between 49 St. and 48 St. until both vehicles were removed from the scene of the accident.

An ambulance was requested, but occupants involved in the accident weren't transported to hospital, RCMP media spokesperson Marie York-Condon told Yellowknifer in an email.

No charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing, according York-Condon.
