Two people were arrested and a large amount of white powder seized from a Bigelow Crescent home following the execution of a search warrant Thursday.

Police conducted the search as part of an ongoing investigation by the Northwest Territories RCMP federal investigations unit, according to a news release Friday.

Police stated that they conducted a risk assessment of the area, which included the assistance of the RCMP's Emergency Response Team.

Shortly thereafter a male adult and female adult were arrested outside of the home without incident.

"Inside the home, police seized a significant quantity of unknown white powder, as well as paraphernalia commonly associated with cocaine trafficking -  including scales, baggies, and a cutting agent," states the news release.

"Ammunition believed to be for a handgun was also located.  The unknown powder will be sent for further analysis."

The man and woman were released from custody with no charges. The names of the individuals have not been made public and the investigation remains ongoing, police say.
