Registration for all programs in the City of Yellowknife winter recreation guide is now open.

Programs range from more organized programs like swimming and taekwondo to less structured fun such as Lego builders and holiday crafts.

Anyone interested in programs can register in person at the pool or Fieldhouse or by phoning the booking clerk. Registration can also be completed online.

The recreation guide can be found on the city's website.

Team Bain crowned junior champions

The NWT Junior Curling Championships took place last weekend in Inuvik with a chance to represent the territory at next year's nationals on the line.

Yellowknife left the competition with mixed results as Team Rogers was able to take home the U21 female crown as they defeated Inuvik's team Bain. Team Rogers is now set to compete at the U-18 Curling Championship in Sherwood Park in April.

Team Naugler took home the silver medal after dropping a close final match to Fort Smith's Team Kaeser.

YK Galaxy works toward licensing

Yellowknife Galaxy Soccer Club recently announced they will be working toward Canada Soccer's Club Licensing Journey.

The club will now work with the NWT Soccer association to obtain official licensing status from the national organization.

The club will have to meet a number of requirements including adhering to a code of ethics and maintaining a safe environment within the club in order to obtain the license.

If successful, YK Galaxy will become the first club from the territory to achieve the new national standard.
