On Tuesday Yellowknife RCMP issued a public appeal in the hopes of locating Menacho, who was last seen the day before, on Tuesday May 5. She was reportedly last seen around the Butler Road area, near the Walmart on Old Airport Road, at about 10 a.m., said police.

On Thursday, RCMP said they found a body after attending to a call at a multiple dwelling residential area off Forrest Drive on Wednesday evening.

Police treated the death as suspicious.

“My family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time,” wrote Marie.

“it is truly amazing how our community as well communities from across the north/country have reached out to show their support,” she continued.

Marie described Menacho as kind and generous.

“Breanna was such a giving person, she had the biggest heart and the most kindest soul. She would be so happy that all of you are here for us,” wrote Marie.

Police have not yet confirmed Menacho’s death.

Tributes and condolences poured in online following Marie’s message about her daughter’s death.
