RCMP and paramedics responded to a report of a stabbing in downtown Yellowknife just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

While few details are known at this time, the incident apparently happened near the Raven Pub on 50 Street.

Yellowknifer arrived at the scene just as an ambulance was pulling away from the popular downtown bar.

A Raven bartender, who asked not to be named, told Yellowknifer he administered first aid to an injured man. The employee said the incident didn't occur at the bar, but that a wounded man ran inside the nightclub.

"It looked pretty bad," the bartender said of the man's injury.

A bystander at the scene, who also wished to remain anonymous, said the man's injuries were significant – an eyewitness account that hasn't yet been corroborated by law enforcement.

A Yellowknife RCMP officer was seen taking statements inside the Raven Pub.

It's not yet known whether or not a suspect has been apprehended, or even identified, by police at this time.

Updates to follow.
