News in Brief: Yellowknife Association for Community Living to host parent and family night

The Yellowknife Association for Community Living is inviting parents and families to a night off on May 22.

Running at 7 p.m. at the Abe Miller Building, the event is an opportunity for the parents and caregivers of individuals living with disabilities to socialize and share refreshments. If attendees RSVP early, the event will provide childcare. In the past, the monthly gathering has included speakers and discussion.

"The Family Networking Group is a comfortable, safe and confidential space to meet for family members supporting relatives with disabilities," stated event facilitator and parent Carla Maxwell in an email to the Yellowknifer.

"I enjoy meeting with other families and sharing stories and support, each family's journey is unique and special, different but similar," she added.
