Intergovernmental Council meets

The premier and a number of Indigenous leaders met in Yellowknife on Friday for their fourth annual Intergovernmental Council meeting.

The groups are partners to the Devolution Agreement. A key part of the discussion revolved around including Northern voices and issues in the development of a new Arctic Policy Framework, according to a news release from the GNWT.

The council was created through devolution to allow Indigenous governments and the GNWT to work
together on land and resource management issues, the release stated.

Free parking until New Year's Day

City parking will be free in downtown Yellowknife over the holiday season.

Residents won't be required to fill up parking meters between Dec. 20 and Jan. 1, according to the city.

"People working downtown for extended periods of time are asked to not park adjacent to storefronts
in an effort to provide easier access to these stores throughout the day," the city tweeted Monday.
