New mischief incident at border gate under investigation: RCMP

Fort Liard RCMP are investigating a third incident of mischief and damage done to the North Gate on Highway 7 on Wednesday.

The Mounties stated that the GNWT Department of Infrastructure reported damage to the gate on June 17. The gate is located about 10 km from the NWT border with British Columbia.

GNWT staff have re-secured the gate.

This week's incident follows other similar occurrences  that took place on April 11 and May 31.

"Charges have been laid in connection to both these previous incidents," states the news release.

People are advised to report information about this week's North Gate incident or other criminal matters in the area to the Fort Liard RCMP at 867-770-1111.
