MED vehicle goes through ice at sandpits

This Municipal Enforcement Division (MED) vehicle was not going anywhere in a hurry on Tuesday. According to Iman Kassam, spokesperson for the city, it got stuck after going through thin ice at the sandpits.

“Public Safety received a notification through the Click and Fix app that a large pile of litter had been dumped at the sandpits. (The) notification was sent to public safety as the items that were dumped may have posed a risk to dog walkers," Kassam stated in an e-mail. “MED was sent out to investigate the complaint and went down a well-used trail when they went through ice. The small pond was covered in snow and it wasn't visible that they were on ice. Thankfully, the officers weren't hurt and the vehicle was pulled out by a tow truck."
