Mark Heyck announced as executive director of the Arctic Energy Alliance

Mayor Mark Heyck says council entrusted SAO to deal with complaint when it arose in 2014.

Outgoing Mayor Mark Heyck has been announced as the new executive director of the Arctic Energy Alliance.

Heyck has served as the Mayor of Yellowknife since 2012 but announced that he would not be running in next month's municipal election back in February of this year.

"We expect that Mr. Heyck will provide exemplary leadership to the AEA going forward, and will ensure that the credibility and visibility of the organization with clients, residents and stakeholders remains high," the Alliance stated in a news release Tuesday evening.

The release states that Heyck will assume his new position on September 11, a month before the a new mayor will be elected.

According to the news release, the Alliance is a not-for-profit society with a mandate “to help communities, consumers, producers, regulators and policymakers to work together to reduce the costs and environmental impacts of energy and utility services in the Northwest Territories."
