Man faces weapons charges

A Yellowknife man is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief following an altercation between two people Tuesday night in an alley behind 52 St. not far from Franklin Ave.

According to an e-mail from RCMP, the accused, Alan Grimard, was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital with minor injuries and taken into custody.

Police stated they recovered a knife at the scene, but added no one was stabbed.

The other person was not hurt and not charged.

Grimard made a brief court appearance Friday morning. He remained in the prisoners' box throughout the proceedings and seemed anxious to show the judge a wound on his shoulder.  Grimard was scheduled to make an appearance in Justice of the Peace Court Friday afternoon for a bail hearing.
