Businesses and community members are rallying behind the 33 families forced from their homes following Tuesday's devastating Rockhill Apartments fire.

Here's how you join the relief effort:

Financial donations

Monetary donations can be made directly to the YWCA NWT's CanadaHelps campaign by clicking on YWCA Rockhill Fire Fund.

Clothing and furniture donations

While the YWCA NWT is asking for online donations only at this time, clothing donations can be dropped off at 56 Rycon Drive from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Donations, which will be sorted and distributed to the affected families, will be accepted the following day, too.

Yellowknifers are welcome to drop off pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, grocery and Walmart gift cards, warm winter coats, toiletries, furniture and diapers. New blankets and sheets are especially needed.

Pay it forward

You can also pitch in by making purchases at a number of stores that have stepped up following the fire.

At the Yellowknife Co-Op, members can help out by donating whatever they can give at the till. On Saturday, a Salvation Army-led food drive will take place at the Yellowknife Co-Op. Shoppers can buy food hampers filled with assorted goods, which will then be donated to families.

Donations are also being accepted at Birchwood Coffee Kǫ̀.

Potluck and auction

Bidding on up-for-grabs items - from a wide array of city-businesses - at Harley's Hard Rock Saloon Wednesday at 9 p.m. will also help the relief effort.

Donated goods from Joie de Vivre Medi Spa, Samantha Stuart Photography Inc., Etandah Organic Day Spa, Buffalo Airways, Stake Restaurant, Big Buds Delivery, Gastown, Michelle Fortin, Dimensions Hair Salon, Vixen Hair Den, Nails by Natascha, and Yellowknife Tattoo will all be on display during the fundraising event. An extra $10 will get you a plate for the event's potluck dinner.
