Hay River Health employees vote 'no' on strike mandate

Hay River Health and Social Services members of the UNW Local 21 have not supported a strike mandate after vote count at the UNW office is completed.

In a document obtained by NNSL Media, the Public Service Alliance of Canada has announced the news to Local 21 members.

"We did not receive sufficient support to pursue a strike mandate that would allow Local 21 to keep pace with our bargaining units at the GNWT and NTPC," the document read.

This announcement comes just over an hour after a strike mandate was issued for NTPC workers for Feb. 11.

“We have heard from the membership at HRHSSA on their collective wishes," UNW President Todd Parsons said in an email.

"I am confident the bargaining team will take this information and decide on the best way to move forward in concluding an agreement for the members at Hay River Health & Social Services.”
