Indie rockers Tegan and Sara will headline Folk on the Rocks this July — as long as COVID-19 doesn’t spoil the party.

In a Thursday news statement, the festival said it is confident the virus will be under control by the time performers take the stage on the weekend of July 17. Other performers slated to play include NWT’s PIQSIQ and Digawolf, according to the festival’s second line-up announcement.

“At the time of writing, the risk of COVID-19 is low in our community, and we are confident that the current social-distancing precautions being taken will have alleviated in time for Folk On The Rocks this July,” the festival said in a news statement.

Previously announced artists include Joel Plaskett, Fred Penner and 2019 Polaris Prize winner Haviah Mighty. Thursday’s line-up announcement adds Delhi 2 Dublin, Mo Kenney, and Donovan Woods and the Opposition to that list.

If the festival doesn’t go ahead, all tickets will be refunded, the news release stated.

In the meantime, organizers said they were monitoring the situation, and were “prepared to take direction from the Northwest Territories Public Health Officer closer to festival season.”
