Other voices have joined the discussion about Roy Erasmus Sr.'s suggestion that it's time for Franklin Avenue, the main drag in Yellowknife, to be renamed for a person or group more closely identified with the capital than Sir John Franklin, the British explorer who passed through the region centuries ago.
But there would be a cost and considerable effort associated with the change, as Yellowknife Mayor Rebecca Alty pointed out.
“We just want to make sure if we look at renaming streets, we take all of that into consideration,” she said.
