City turns security cameras back on after month of policy development

Security cameras in the city are beginning to be turned back on, after a new policy was developed and put in place February 12.

Cameras were deactivated in January following accusations that Doug Gillard, the head of the Municipal Enforcement Division, used the cameras to look at women.

Currently, cameras at the public library, Fieldhouse and Multiplex are back in service. Additional cameras will be reactivated as further assessments happen regarding camera access and placement occur.

The policy is available on the City of Yellowknife website.
