A woman faces an assault with a weapon charge following an incident in Yellowknife Tuesday night, say police.

Yellowknife RCMP responded to a call at a residence in "the area of Franklin Avenue and Forrest Drive," just before 11:30 p.m.

There, officers found a 29-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics on site attempted to treat the man's injuries, but he "declined medical attention," RCMP said in an email to NNSL Media Wednesday morning.

Police arrested and charged a 38-year-old woman in connection with the incident.

RCMP did not provide the woman's name.

The accused was released from custody and is due to appear in court on Sept. 8.
