Have you heard about the curious case of Kaushik Varadha?

The Yellowknife man was reported missing by Yellowknife RCMP via a news release sent to outlets in the city Wednesday morning. Const. Julie Plourde wrote that the 26-year-old was last seen in the Niven area, and was reported missing at 7:27 p.m. Monday evening. The release didn’t indicate who reported Varadha missing.

But minutes after news stories were published based on the release Wednesday morning, an account appearing to belong to Varadha commented on Cabin Radio’s Facebook page that he is not missing at all.

A message received by NNSL Media from the same account indicated he was incommunicado because he was in mourning.

“I was grieving due to the loss of a family member,” he said.

NNSL Media received another RCMP news release at 11:49 a.m. confirming Varadha is safe and sound.
