As a long-time GNWT employee I have watched with dismay the ongoing contract talks between the UNW and GNWT.
I am not directly involved with the negotiations, but am a union member.
Tuesday's refusal of binding arbitration by the GNWT is the last straw.
Negotiations have been underway for 3 to 4 years with no results.
In my opinion the GNWT is behaving in a dangerous and irresponsible manner in dragging this situation on to an ultimate conclusion of strike action and potential chaos for the people of the NWT.
