Douglas Wayne Gill was born on July 24th, 1949. He tragically lost his battle with cancer on May 5th, 2024, at the age of 74. Wayne was born in Botwood, NFLD, and moved to Yellowknife, NT, in 1982 for work. He remained working for all of his days until his passing. He died at the Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, NT.
Wayne is predeceased by his father, James Douglas; mother, Eileen; and brother, Robert Gill.
Leaving to mourn his loss is his wife of 52 years, Doreen; his sons, Michael (Vanin) and Mark (Mila) Gill; grand-daughters, Nezerene, Jessica, Elisha and Felicity (Ali).
A Funeral Service was held on May 9th, 2024, with close friends and immediate family in attendance. We would like to thank all of Wayne's friends and the Salvation Army officers who helped in any way with the Funeral Service; your kindness will not be forgotten.
We would like to thank the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital, and to the staff at the Stanton Territorial Hospital for taking such wonderful care at such a difficult time.
Wayne had many friends and coworkers he worked with over the years. Everyone admired and respected him. He will be missed by all.
We are planning to have a barbecue in Wayne's honour at a date and time yet to be announced in July 2024, around his 75th Birthday, so all of his family and friends can be together.
He will be forever in our thoughts, "gone, but never forgotten".
