Retraction

An article in the July 25 edition ("Increase in cancers could be linked to bug,") contained several errors, says the Alberta professor quoted in the story: there is no evidence on time trends pertaining to the occurrence of H. pylori infection, H. pylori does not cause cancer in general, but the frequency of H. pylori infection influences stomach cancer rates; and there is no information on whether stomach cancer rates have increased in the North. Please see letter to the editor by Dr. Karen J. Goodman available on old.nnsl.com. Yellowknifer apologizes for these errors and for any confusion or embarrassment they may have caused.
