Man reported missing in Fort Providence found deceased: RCMP

Fort Providence RCMP are investigating the sudden death of a man in the community.

Mounties responded to a report of a missing person around 9:45 p.m. last night, according to a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

Officers were directed to a vehicle “believed to belong to the missing person” and searched the area.

The search for the man was called off last night due to “failing light conditions,” and began again this morning.

The missing male was located deceased around 11:20 a.m. with the help of NWT RCMP Police Dog Services, states the news release.

The identity and age of the deceased man has not yet been released.

RCMP, alongside the NWT Coroner Service, are investigating the death.
