High winds have forced the closure of the Whati winter road. The Department of Infrastructure made the announcement Tuesday morning on Twitter.
The department has not yet indicated when the road might again be open to the public.
The Tlicho government website indicates that the drifting snow creates poor visibility. They wrote that the GNWT will provide an update when they are able to reopen the road and apologize for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
