A fourth person has been charged in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation in Hay River.

Tyler Cayen, 32, has been charged with murder and robbery related to the Dec.28 discovery of a deceased man inside a vehicle near the Katl’odeeche Hay River Reserve, according to a release Wednesday from RCMP.

James George Thomas, 25, Levi Cayen, 20, and Sasha Cayen, 25, all face murder and robbery charges related to the same incident.

The deceased man was found inside a vehicle along the Sandy Creek access road on the morning of Dec.28, 2017, according to police.

On Jan.8, the three initial suspects made their first court appearance in Yellowknife. During the appearance, defence lawyer Tracy Bock represented both Levi Cayen and Thomas. Bock, citing a need to obtain disclosed information, including the names of witnesses, for the purpose of his clients' defence requested the hearing be adjourned until mid-February.

Levi Cayen and James George Thomas are due back in court on Feb.13, while Sasha Cayen is set to appear via video on Feb. 20.

Tyler Cayen, the latest suspected arrested in connection with the homicide investigation, is due in Yellowknife court on Feb.6.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the December death.

News North was unable to reach RCMP for comment on the ongoing investigation before deadline.
