After months of preparation, The Source in Centre Square Mall is packed up and ready to move to its new location.
Staff were on hand Tuesday, doing some last minute organizing before they move into the new store on Old Airport Road, next to the recently opened Booster Juice.
The store will be open at the end of the month.
The business announced its plans to move locations earlier this year at the same time Bootlegger closed its doors in the mall.
During the closures city councillor Adrian Bell called for a major re-purposing of the failing downtown mall.
“This effort takes a collaboration and a willingness from the REITS (two companies that own separate parts of the mall) to make a change,” said Bell. “I don’t believe the state of this mall is because of negligence … It’s ignorance.”
This year three stores have closed in the mall. Ice Wireless shut it's doors and moved online last week.
Dan's Place is currently having a closing sale said owner, Dan Hayward. But two small retailers, Nancy's Place and Ja-Pain have opened in the mall.
Franchise may follow suit with recycling
Sooner or later sipping through a straw may become a thing of the past.
The city's only A&W restaurant could be joining in the trend of saying goodbye to plastic straws.
However, the store's manager Belen Balbazar said they have not received word from the head office on whether they will be included in the straw-cuts.
In a release sent out last week the head of A&W Canada stated locations would give customers the option of using biodegradable paper straws or go straw-less altogether.
The release coincided with World Ocean's Day where the company pledged to exile all plastic straws from the restaurant's North American chains by the end of the year.
Settling insurance claims getting easier
The folks at Crawford & Company have opened up shop in Yellowknife.
The independent claims adjusting firm has opened in the 50/50 Mini Mall downtown.
“Our commitment to restoring lives, business and communities led us to open a location in Yellowknife and extend our localized service capabilities,” stated Pat Van Bakel, president and CEO for Canadian operations, in a news release.
The Atlanta-based company works with and negotiates with clients who are looking for compensation from insurance companies.
