After six years as president of Aurora College, Jane Arychuk has resigned from her position, effective May 31.

"It has been an honour and a pleasure serving as president of Aurora College," Arychuk said in a May 22 news release. "I am proud of what we have accomplished at the college, including the opportunities Aurora College has provided to the many students from across the NWT."

Arychuk started as interim president of Aurora College in July 2012 and became its president in December of that year.

She also spent seven years as the campus director of the Yellowknife North Slave Campus and as the vice president of community and extensions at Aurora College.

Prior to joining the college, Arychuk spent 23 years as a community educator and principal in Fort Providence.

Education, Culture and Employment Minister Caroline Cochrane has appointed Jeff O'Keefe, currently the vice president of student affairs, as interim president of Aurora College until a permanent successor to Arychuk has been hired.

"I would like to thank Jane Arychuk for her dedication and hard work during the past six years as president of Aurora College," said Cochrane in a May 22 news release. "Ms. Arychuk has demonstrated a deep commitment to the college, faculty, staff and students."
