Woman charged with aggravated assault after man sent to Iqaluit hospital with deep cuts

A 46-year-old woman will go to court to answer to a charge of aggravated assault after a man was rushed to Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit with several deep cuts on Jan 3.

The injuries were not life-threatening but required urgent medical attention, according to the police. The victim has since been released from hospital.

Eeleeta Pumiotook has been charged with aggravated assault. She was released from police custody, with conditions, following a bail hearing.

She is due to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit on Jan. 20.
