MLA and ministers’ compensation shows broad range

The latest instalment of compensation and expenses pertaining to MLAs and government ministers revealed total earnings ranging between $52,343 for Iqaluit-Manirajak MLA Adam Lightstone and $95,350 for then-deputy premier Joe Savikataaq during the five-month reporting period from Nov. 6, 2017-March 31, 2018.

Travel and living allowances ranged from a low of $5,948 for Quttiktuq MLA David Akeeagok to a high of $14,400 for Hudson Bay MLA Allan Rumbolt.

Contituency funding, including expenses to operate a constituency office, varied from $29,054 for Jeannie Ehaloak in Cambridge Bay up to $80,359 for Adam Lightstone in Iqaluit.

For constituency travel budgets, 11 MLAs didn’t claim any expenses. Akeeagok had the highest total at $11,136.
