A staff member who works in the kitchen for Larga Baffin in Ottawa tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, management of the boarding home stated on Wednesday night.

The positive test was confirmed earlier on Wednesday.

Larga Baffin is working with Ottawa Public Health to assess the potential impact to staff and clients.

The employee's last full shift was on Friday, Sept. 25 and the individual exhibited no symptoms on that day. When the employee reported to work on Monday, the staff member was sent home immediately due to not feeling well, according to a Larga Baffin news release.

"We ask that you are respectful and do not pass judgement or blame. The entire world is impacted by this pandemic. Remember we are all people dealing with the same fears and concerns," the news release reads.

Boarding home management says everyone inside Larga Baffin is required to wear masks at all times to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.

"The safety and well-being of our Clients and Staff is our primary concern," the news release states.
