Former Languages Commissioner Helen Klengenberg of Kugluktuk stepped down in September due to health reasons.

Speaker of the legislative assembly Simeon Mikkungwak said, “Ms. Aariak’s professional background, which includes positions in both the Office of the Languages Commissioner and the Inuit Uqausinginnik Taiguusiliuqtiit, makes her well-suited to taking on these important responsibilities.”

The territorial government is seeking applications for a permanent candidate to fill the position of Languages Commissioner.
