Speaking Inuinnaqtut about the old days when Amegainik use to only travel by dogteams as their means of only transportation when he was growing up. Here is Kakolak Avadluk interpreting for Amegainik. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

Spring is almost here. We are getting lots of sunshine but the temperatures continue to be cold.

Plans for 2018 Omingmak Frolics are getting busier for the committees planning snowmobile races.

Many of our athletes in various sports from Cambridge Bay are busy getting ready to participate at the Arctic Winter Games in Fort Smith and Hay River, NWT. We have good basketball players and wrestlers. Good luck to all our athletes and be safe and have fun. Quana to all our coaches who have worked hard with our athletes in many sports. We are proud of you all.

Elders, youth, community members, hunters, fishermen and scientists met in a workshop up at CHARS to discuss some scenarios for the future and the Kitikmeot marine regions. It was great to hear from our elders and their storytelling of the past and how they lived and survived as Inuit in this region.

The sun is shining but it's clear and cold. Few residents go ice-fishing, and we had a few polar bear hunters who were successful on their harvest. Every spring as the weather gets warmer, students head out on the land for a few hours to enjoy on-the-land activities with their teachers and elders.

Cambridge Bay had lots of snow this winter, lots of blowing snow which keeps the heavy equipment operators busy around town making it as safe as possible. Soon the winter road will get busy with traffic going to West Arm for family outings where kids and families go tobogganing and to enjoy the warmer weather. We all look forward to this.

Take care everyone.

God be with you Son.
