All-terrain vehicle collision kills two people in Resolute

The RCMP released news today of an all-terrain vehicle accident that killed two people from Resolute Bay.

The tragic incident occurred on July 11 at close to 6 p.m., near the community's fuel tank farm, according to police.

Three people were injured when the vehicles collided. All were transported to the health centre.

A female victim died at the medical facility a short time later. A male victim succumbed to his injuries after being medevaced to to Iqaluit for emergency treatment. The third individual did not require emergency care, the RCMP stated.

The Mounties, who didn't release any names or ages of the deceased publicly, are still investigating the accident in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

The police force offered its thanks to residents of Resolute who assisted them and health care workers during the incident.
