Yellowknife RCMP have nabbed an individual whom they suspect is guilty of break and enter and theft, and some of the recovered stolen property may belong to people who have not reported it being taken.

The police executed a search warrant on a vehicle at a Yellowknife residence on Jan. 18 after receiving a complaint two days earlier about a break and enter at a cabin on the Ingraham Trail.

The officers found the missing tools and a generator that were stolen from the complainant, but they also seized other items that they believe are stolen. Consequently, the Mounties are asking anyone who has noticed tools or other valuables missing from their residences or cabins to contact the police. Of particular note is an antler carving that was recovered during the search.

The Yellowknife RCMP also have reason to believe that a white GMC 2500 HD truck may have been involved in other break and enters or thefts from properties in the Yellowknife area. Anyone who has a surveillance camera or door bell camera is asked to report any suspicious activity involving a vehicle matching this description.

A thirty-two-year-old man from Yellowknife, whose identity was not revealed in a Monday news release, has been charged with possession of stolen property as a result of this investigation.

Those who have information about this incident or any other thefts and break and enters is asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.nwtnu.crimestoppersweb.com. In the event of an emergency call, 911.
