Yellowknife RCMP responded to what has been termed a “double homicide” Saturday morning at Bigelow Crescent.

The police investigation thus far supports the notion that these homicides were targetted events related to the illicit drug trade in the city, according to Matt Halstead, spokesperson for the Yellowknife RCMP. Importantly, there is currently no indication of a broader risk to the public, he added.

The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals: one was deceased upon arrival, while the other was confirmed dead at the hospital.

An RCMP update provided to NNSL media on Monday afternoon revealed that no arrests had yet been made or charges laid yet as the police investigation continues.

Halstead also mentioned that the investigative team believes there are witnesses to this event who have yet to come forward. The Mounties encourage anyone with information to promptly contact the RCMP.
