Town of Inuvik and SAO part ways less than one year into job

Inuvik Town Council and Senior Administrative Officer Michael Trabysh have parted ways, less than a year after he was hired.

Deputy Mayor Natasha Kulikowski confirmed the SAO was no longer in employment of the town during public question period of Town Council’s Feb. 28 meeting.

“It policy of the town that we don’t discuss Human Resources issues,” she said. “We do have a statement that Council has put out for the public and that is simply that we have ended our relationship with SAO Trabysh and that we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

As of March 8, no statement appears on the Town of Inuvik’s social media feed nor is there one apparent on the town’s website.

The question of what happened was brought to council by Don Fischer, who said he was representing a group of concerned residents.

Trabysh was present during town councils Feb. 26 Committee of the Whole meeting, which had an in camera discussion at the end of the evening. He took over the position last summer after longtime SAO Grant Hood retired.
