One dead, two injured following Iqaluit apartment building fire

One person was found dead and and two people were injured after an Iqaluit apartment building caught fire on the night of Jan. 16.

The Iqaluit Fire Department and RCMP responded to the emergency at 11 p.m. that night at building 2701 in the Tundra Ridge subdivision. The deceased individual, not publicly identified, was found in a separate unit, according to the Mounties.

The police have declared the incident “non-suspicious” following an investigation, and have turned the matter over to the Office of the Chief Coroner.
