NorthwesTel has announced that services in the Mackenzie Valley and Beaufort Delta regions of the NWT are operational, but there's still some congestion, according to its update from Sunday morning.

The company said they will be working on repairing fibre damage in the territory on Sunday, which includes fixing internet, long-distance and mobility services in the Mackenzie Valley as well as in Fort Simpson, Nahanni Butte and Fort Liard.

The city has also confirmed that 9-1-1 has been restored and the temporary numbers which had been in place for most of Saturday have been deactivated.

NorthwesTel announced on Saturday that fires currently burning in the NWT and B.C. knocked service out in the Mackenzie Valley and Beaufort Delta on Saturday.

The GNWT is extending a full fire ban for the Dehcho region effective until at least May 24 while the South Slave is under a full fire ban until at least May 17.
