A 27-year-old man is facing a charge of manslaughter in relation to a house fire that killed a young woman in Fort McPherson.

The accused, Randall Blake, remains in custody pending a future court date.

The incident in question occurred on Dec. 15. The initial investigation by authorities at that time determined that the fire was the result of arson. On Dec. 20, human remains were located during the fire scene examination and later identified as belonging to Clara Blake, according to the RCMP.

An additional investigation by the Fort McPherson Detachment and the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit led to the additional charge of manslaughter, police stated in a Jan. 24 news release.
