The Frame Lake Community Health Clinic on Old Airport Road closed at noon on Wednesday due to heating issues in the building.

NWT Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) staff are contacting affected patients to reschedule appointments and will continue to do so until the situation has been resolved, according to the NTHSSA.

“As the Frame Lake Community Health Centre is located in a leased facility, next steps and reopening date/time will be determined after the property manager is able to determine a timeline to restore heat to the building,” the NTHSSA stated.

Those requiring new appointments are asked to call the Yellowknife Primary Care Centre at 867-767-9294, although they are advised that call volumes may be high, leading to longer wait times.

The issue at the Frame Lake Community Health Clinic is the latest in a string of problems that the NTHSSA has faced recently.

The Yellowknife Primary Care Centre reopened earlier this week after a flooding incident on the weekend.

In addition, the spread of Covid, the flu and RSV has resulted in Stanton Territorial Hospital experiencing a higher than normal volume of patients in both the emergency department and on in-patient units, putting the hospital in “phase-3 gridlock,” which means that at times there are admitted patients waiting in the emergency department with no available inpatient bed to move them to, according to the NTHSSA.
